The main building of Tenwang Pavilion is 57.5 meters
high and covers an area of 1300 sq.m.. Seated on
a basement that represents the ancient circumvallation,
the main pavilion has taken a structure by which
it is a three-story building with cloister from
the outside perspective, but actually a seven-story
one inside. Both the new pavilion and the two escorted
arcades by its south and north sides were covered
by bluish glazed tiles made in Yixing, the famous
city for glazed tile art. The Yicui Pavilion with
four tiers of eaves stands at the north end of the
arcade, and Yajiang Pavilion in the same structure
at the south end. Facing to the pavilion, you would
be impressed by its magnificent figure that is looked
like a Chinese character constituted by the main
pavilion and the two arcades. Overlooked from an
airplane, Tenwang Pavilion is seemed like a tremendous
roc stretching its wings and setting about to soar
above the wave. Two lakes in ladle shape lie below
the basement of the pavilion and connect to each
other at their ends, and a roofed Zigzag bridge
crosses above the north one. Reflected by the lake,
the pavilion under the sky constructs a miraculous
picture. With the elaborate decoration, a series
of fine works of art are exhibited inside the pavilion,
including bronze vessels, jade embossment, scroll
of couplets for pillars and calligraphies and paintings,
propylene wall painting, bronze embossment, large
size Grind Lacquer Painting, Tang tri-colored wall
painting, etc,. Stepping upon the pavilion, your
mind would be inspired by its rich historical literary
resources and your eyes would be filled with the
natural beauty of the grand mountain and river. |
